It has been so great to be painting again. The ARTrails Open Studios is a really great way to promote oneself as an artist and meet the public face to face. It is worth all the effort, and it is also exhausting. Thus, the infrequent to nil amount of posts. I am back to painting Sonoma County scenes, and relish the time in my studio during a somewhat quiet period for shows. A time to renew and operate at a different pace.
The sunflowers were discovered while on a walk with a friend. It was a cloudy morning with just a glimmer of light finding its way through the clouds. I think I might create a small works series.

Paths are irresistible subject matter. They lend much to the imagination. I once went down this path on one of my first dates. It's a great place to lie in the sand, share a picnic, walk along the beach, fall in love. Returning here fourteen years later only cemented the initial gleam in my eye. He's the one for me. And the pathway, it's always a story about going somewhere, isn't it?
My husband and I vacationed in three regions of Switzerland last year about this time. I had never yet visited the French speaking area. Oh my! It is now one of my very favorite places, ever. We stayed in a wine making village, Epesees, consisting of around 300 people, families and neighbors who create wine, who pick the grapes together, and hang out on picnic tables sharing wine after a long day in the vineyard. Beautiful, rich, lush memories.
A happy day! I only recently posted this image to my website, and received a call today from one of my collectors of his interest in the painting. He has purchased the painting, and I am a delightfully joyful artist. Wishing you all a glorious day full of wonderful surprises! |
