Ms. Keller Peters' inspiration is born out of the Bauhaus modernists, Johannes Itten, Paul Klee and Josef Albers, whose work she has had the opportunity to see in Switzerland on various travels. About their work she states, "It was a language that I understood, and it immediately stopped me in my tracks."

Jill's distinctive landscape paintings center around nature, and how light and atmosphere effect her carefully chosen subjects. Working with pure color out of the tube, she mixes layers of color on panels, deftly maneuvering the paint with a painting knife, using her knowledge of light and color to create lustrous paintings.
Keller Peters' knowledge and practice of light and color have matured from two areas of study. She explored light and its effect on film at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara. Photography taught her to “read” light and to seek out situations that optimize its glowing qualities. It taught her to patiently work out the technical aspects of a lighting challenge and to think analytically.
Secondly, Jill studied with master colorist, Susan Sarback, (School of Light and Color) from whom she learned the effect of light and color when it is translated into oil painting, and seeing how light and color create form and space.
Ms. Keller Peters’ work has received recognition both locally and nationally. She is a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society, has participated in the Sonoma County ArTrails and was a partner at the Graton Gallery. Ms. Keller-Peters’ work was represented by Galerie Judith Engelstad in Sausalito until the gallery recently closed.
Jill was raised in Visalia, California, the gateway to the Sequoias. She currently lives in the northern California wine country with her husband, Josef Keller, a chef and restaurateur.
